I started by three month journey in Italy by driving from Copenhagen to Venice on motorbike. On the way I passed Avatak Paddles in Varese to pick up a consignment for Kajakhotellet.dk and the paddles Nicola has made for Wendy and me. More on that later.
I left Copenhagen on 9PM saturday and drove all night through Denmark, Germany, Switcherland and Italy.
Unfortunately, I managed to lose the only thing I can’t afford to lose travelling: my stash of documents. Somewhere along the way I have lost my ziplock bag with all my important documents: passport, driver’s license, motorbike registration papers, health insurance documents, credit cards, you name it. All I have left is one credit card I used to pay gasoline with on the road.
So, on my first day in Venice I didn’t go paddling with the others. I went to the local police to report my lost documents and to the Danish consulate to get replacement papers if possible. Then I’ve written long emails back home to put them to work on police reports, replacement document applications etc.
Not a very good start to my journey, but besides the loss of every import document I have, everything is fine. Good weather, nice people, great food, fabulous icecream, tasty fruit. Good thing I still have one credit card left 🙂
